It never fails :(
The latest financial "fun": $2,000 to the dentist for my new post and crown.
Ouch (on both physical and fiscal counts).
A tallit-and-tefillin-wearing woman in a traditional Conservative synagogue?! An unorthodox—and non-orthodox—perspective on Jews and Judaism from a perpetual misfit. This blog, welcoming the entire Jewish community, is dedicated to those who take Judaism seriously, but not necessarily literally.

Once upon a time, I belonged to a left-wing egalitarian Conservative synagogue, where I was one of a number of women who wore a tallit—and one of the few members who used an Orthodox prayer book (adding the Mothers, of course). Having moved since then, I now belong to a right-wing traditional Conservative synagogue, where I’m almost always the only woman wearing a tallit—and one of the few members who adds the Mothers. I seem destined to be forever . . . on the fringe.

Argh! I know how you feel - our recent medical expenses have gone through the roof. We have used up all the money in our flex account and can't add more until the start of our new fiscal year in July, but we have several procedures that really have to be done between now and then.
I know the feeling. Between having been out for a week with "acute pharygitis and bronchitis" (quoth the doctor's note) and having spent a whopping three hours in the dentist's chair the other day, I'm hesitant to make any more medical appointments, even though they're quite overdue, partly because I don't want to take off any more time and partly because I don't want to spend any more money. :(
I guess I shouldn't be in any rush to take either of you off my r'faneinu ("heal us")/mi-sheh-berach "may the One who blessed . . . bless the sick person . . .") list. :(
I wish you both a r'fuah shleimah/complete healing.
I'd like to revise an old bumper sticker to say "If you think our health care system is healthy, ask someone who isn't."
